Steam in the Czech Canada 2007.10.30 (Fodor Illés) A journey was organised by our association to the 110th years anniversary of the Jindøichùv Hradec - Nová Bystøice narrow gauge line in the Czech Republic. We reached the exhibitions railway in Nitra, Slovakia and one of the terminouses of Waldviertelbahn in Heidenreichstein, Austria on the way to JH. Kun¾ak előtt halad a két gőzössel továbbított fotótehervonat Nitra: There is a small museum railway in the Slovakian towns exhibition area. It works during the bigger exhibitions only. This railway has two sections, a smaller one from the northern part of the exhibition area to the open-air etnographic museum (the skanzen), the other one makes a loop around the museum. Unfortunately only the shorter part was under traffic when we visited the railway on 29.09.2007, Two steam locomotives were heated (U25.001, ÈKD 7493/1951, U36.001, ÈKD 2495/?), the third one was in the depot (U35.901, called Kri¾ko, Krauss 7493/1918). The page of the exhibition: http://www.agrokomplex.sk/ Waldviertelbahn, Heidenreichstein We just jumped into the towns railway staton for a few minutes on the same day. The last passenger train left this station in 1986, freight traffic was stoped in 1992 by the Austrian national railway company (ŐBB). Several passenger trains run here nowadays but only in the summertime and only for the tourists. We caught the last train on this day which was transported with a really ugly two-axles steam locomotive. We found a normal gauge tramway car in the station (it is stored in roll-bocks). We dont know why this tram stored here. The page of Waldviertelbahn: www.waldviertelbahn.at (To be continued...)
