The picture of the month - resurrection of the abandoned railway

2007.11.14 (Fodor Illés)

Advertisements are ewerywhere - this is the fruit of globalism. These are really astounding placards. We have found a really interesting one in Subotica, Serbia. One of the biggest soft drink manufacturer has used a picture from the closed Hegyköz railway in 2007.

The railway of the Hegyköz was situated in the north pf Hungary from Füzéskomlós via Sárospatak to Kenézlő and Füzérkomlós (and to Királyhelmec till the end of WW1 - this small town is in Slovakia nowadays). The last part of this railway was closed in 1980. It was a popular railway with a really big passenger and freight traffic but it was closed by the communists power.

We have found this ad in Subotica, near a greengrocers in front of the main railway station. This picture was made originally by Rudolf Lakos. A passenger train is waiting in Sárospatak narrow gauge station with a FAUR locomotive (nr. Mk45 2008). It was taken sometimes in the end of the 1970s because loco is on their new red-yellow livery. We havent got any information about the origin of the advertisement. Maybe Mr. Lakos hasnt got any information about his pictures career.
