Once upon a time, a nice and special men was the chief of the CFF trains in Covasna. After the closure of the line, he made all the efforts to preserve, repair and reopen the line. His house was open for all the people who contributed the repair of the tracks and the Hanko bridge.

I his house and in his garden we had the headquarters of the repair crew. Who can forget Mirceas enthusiasm and hospitality ? Who can forget the nice evenings, when we stood in the garden till , with good sheep grill, beer, mamaliga, cheese, speaking and making plans about the future of the line...

Mircea (or Gigi, how his family called him) left us after a heart attack, on Monday morning, on 4 July, when he was driving his car on the way to Covasna station, where he wanted to arrange a new transport of sleepers brought from Austria by Georg Hocevar, for the repair of CFF Covasna. Hundreds of people accompanied him on his last way, on 7 July. When he left his house, the horn of the little 2 axle diesel who hauled the first working trains on CFF Covasna blow for many minutes. This was the saddest sound on this line...

May he rest in peace!

Serban Lacriteanu
