Kecskemét Railway Day

This year the Railway Day on the Kecskemét narrow-gauge network will be on 11th August. Its fairly possible its the last one for a period, because the steam engine will get a general overhaul, and the narrow gauge networks operated by the Hungarian State Railway Co. (MÁV) are facing with ambiguous future.

The programme:

8:45 Greeting speeches at Kecskemét.

9:10 The special train (pulled by 490,053 steam engine) departs. Special features during the journey:
- Driving the locomotive - of course, the amateur engineers get a certificate!
- photo-halts
- watering halt with assistance
- special railway-themed things for sale
- exciting hiking before lunchtime
- lunch at the "Karikás Csárda" Pension in Bugac
- horsemen-show
- tombola with railway-themed prizes
- non-stop bar coach on the train

The journey ends at 17:55 at Kecskemét, MÁV-connection is assured.

Prices and other information:

The attendance and travel price is 800 HUF for an adult and 400 HUF for a child, which will be handled as donation for the Railway History League.

Lunch:

Two menus are available:
A - Goulash and apricot pie: 950 HUF/portion
B - Chicken breast with salad and apricot pie: 1200 HUF/portion

The tickets should be bought before departure at the narrow gauge station Kecskemét!

Between "Bugac felső" station and the lunch site horse-carriages are available for 700 HUF/person.
