Szob is out of operation yet

2008.05.09 (kisvasut.hu)

Szob-Márianosztra line started operation on 01.05.2008 and finished on 04.05.2008. The reason why they must have stopped is a derailment which happend on the first train. Börzsöny Kisvasút Ltd. is the operator of the railway and they have no permission for operating the railway yet from the Hungarian Rail Office.

The operator of the railway said they made some test rides with passengers on the first days of May. They hope they will get the permission of Rail Office soon.

An other problem is the new rail safety certificate from Hungarian Traffic Authority. It makes about 5 000 000 HUF (about 25 000 EUR) cost for an 8 km long narrow-gauge railway in every fifth years and 2 500 000 HUF (about 12 000 EUR) in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years as an investigation fee. It dangers all of the Hungarian narrow-gauge railways because most of them cant pay this amount of money. We hope these fees will reduced in the future.
